Important notice about August

We very much love meeting up as a church family on Sundays. But you may or may not have noticed that there are of lots of things going on behind the scenes involving lots of volunteers! So during the summer we want to honour them and give them a well-deserved break.

That’s why during August we’re only running one service at 10.30am, with refreshments and garden play starting from 10am. It will be an all-age service.

We will keep reminding people throughout July that this is happening, but please make a note in your diary so you don’t forget or turn up at the wrong time - although you will still be very welcome! And if you’re interested in helping our volunteers, why not check out our volunteering page here?

A Rocha Act for Nature Event

On Saturday, 24 June 2023, join A Rocha UK’s CEO, Andy Atkins as we discover how Eco churches are incorporating care for God’s creation as part of their mission. We’ll be joined by friends from Hazelnut Community Farm - a Gold Eco Church and an A Rocha Partner in Action - as well as Delyth Higgins, Eco Church officer from the A Rocha UK Eco Church team. It will also be a great opportunity to learn and share more of your experience of campaigning for nature - and ‘speak up’ together for nature through a simple action.

Easter Events

It’s nearly Easter! As a church we are putting on a few events. They are listed below, or visit our Easter page for more information!

From Monday, 3 April to Wednesday, 5 April we are hosting a garden trail called Explore Easter. This is a free event and is suitable for all ages! There will be chance to be creative as well as reflective as you follow the trail. Perfect to invite your friends and family to! Please allow an hour to fully enjoy the trail.

On Maundy Thursday, 6 April from 8-9pm you can join us at Highgrove for a time of solemn observance of Jesus' passion and death. The service will allow for quiet meditation through communion, prayer, Bible readings, increasing darkness and silent reflection. You don’t need to book, just turn up.

At 7am on Easter Sunday we are at the top of Shirehampton Golf Course for a short service to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection along with other churches in the area. Then join us for an Easter egg hunt, crafts and hot cross buns in the church garden at 9.30am before a family celebration in the church building at 10.30am. We will serve refreshments starting at 10am, so even if you can’t make it for the hot cross buns, you can still catch up with other people with some tea and coffee then!

Hopefully see you at any or all of the events!

Discipleship Groups (D-Groups)

Discipleship Groups (D-Groups)

This week we are very excited to launch our Discipleship Groups (D-Groups for short) for the Lent period.

The Bible is essential reading for Jesus’ followers. Jesus himself said,

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
— Matthew 4:4

The Bible is God’s word, and it’s where we encounter God and how we get to know him better. But it’s often quite hard to commit to reading the Bible in the busyness of daily life. We need other people to encourage us and keep us going!

So for this Lent period we are starting our D-Groups, a group of 3, 4 or 5 people who commit to reading the Bible everyday and meet each week to discuss about the passages they’ve read. Here’s a video from Ed and Deb explaining it in more details:

As explained, we will be starting on March 2 and continuing on until April 17. Do visit the D-Groups page on the website to sign up!
